Domestic Violence Clinic
One Woman's Success Story
Five years ago, a local resident was in the middle of severe domestic violence (DV). To cope, she drank and used meth while facing mental health issues. She came to the Healthcare for the Homeless Domestic Violence Clinic. This clinic is in a secure location and has female providers that include mental health care and referral to substance abuse treatment. While gaining her physical health this patient also addressed her addiction and mental health disorders. She filed a protection order and took measures to gain safety.Five years later, she reports being a new woman. She now attends Tacoma Community College where she is completing prerequisites for nursing school. With scholarships in hand and nearly perfect grades, this former patient of the clinic is on her way to success and now has gained personal wellness. She has praise for the long-term presence of MDC, with its healthcare and its mental health counseling for having "been with me throughout my entire journey."
To protect the women who trust their safety to our clinic, we do not publish our location.
